The Competition’s awards system is designed to support the artistic development of participants.

Piano & Organ - Edinburgh

Laureate Prizes

  • Third Prize
Laureate Prizes are awarded to the most distinguished participants in the live performance categories. The Jury determines the number of laureates and reserves the right to award or withhold individual prizes.

Grand Prize
The Helen Hopekirk Prize
An invitation to perform at the Winners' Concert at one of Edinburgh’s leading concert venues planned for Autumn 2026.

Where participation is not possible at the scheduled time, the prize remains awarded and the concert opportunity may be postponed by mutual agreement.

Jury Special Awards
At the discretion of the Jury, the following awards may be presented:
  • Best Interpretation of a Work by Helen Hopekirk
  • Best Performance of Scottish-Themed Music
  • Outstanding Musicality Award
  • Debut Diploma - for participants taking part in an international competition for the first time
  • Diploma for Artistry and Stage Presence
  • Diploma for Outstanding Individual Interpretation
  • Diploma for Stylistic Accuracy
  • Diploma for Artistic Promise
The number and range of special awards are determined by the Jury according to the artistic level of the performances presented.

Diplomas & Certificates
  • International Competition Diplomas - awarded to laureates and special award recipients
  • Certificate of Participation in an International Competition - awarded to participants who do not receive diplomas
  • Publication of the names of laureates and prize winners on the official Competition website
  • Letters of appreciation awarded to teachers of laureates and diploma recipients

Performance of the winning composer’s work at a concert in Edinburgh in Autumn 2026.

Where in-person attendance is not possible, the work may be performed without the composer’s physical presence.
