18–24 May 2026 | Glasgow & Edinburgh
The Helen Hopekirk International Festival is a multi-day programme of concerts and educational events dedicated to celebrating the life, music, and legacy of Scottish pianist, composer, and teacher Helen Hopekirk (1856–1945). Taking place across Glasgow and Edinburgh, the Festival brings together invited international and UK artists, scholars, teachers, and young musicians to explore Scottish musical heritage, with particular attention to women composers and underrepresented repertoire.
The Festival opens with concerts by invited artists and ensembles and includes a special day marking Helen Hopekirk’s birthday on 20 May, featuring performances and contextual events centred on her work. Across the week, the programme offers educational activities designed for students, teachers, and the wider public, creating a cultural and learning framework that leads directly into the live Piano and Organ Competition in Edinburgh.
The Festival is conceived as both a public celebration and an educational platform, offering audiences and participants meaningful engagement with Scottish music while supporting the artistic development of the next generation of musicians.
Further programme details will be announced soon.
